Toba Cooper

Toba’s practice focuses on trademark acquisition and brand management, copyright strategy and advisory work, copyright and trademark dispute resolution, litigation, licensing, and transactions. Toba has nearly a decade of experience advising, assisting, and collaborating with brand owners large and small, entrepreneurs, and creators in strategizing, acquiring, commercializing, and protecting their rights in Canada and beyond.  She is known for attuning to her clients’ business needs and devising practical strategies to maximize, protect, and preserve the value of their IP assets.

Toba regularly represents clients in trademark and copyright matters before the Provincial and Federal Courts including actions and applications for passing off, depreciation of goodwill, and trademark and copyright infringement. She also has experience before the Trademarks Opposition Board in opposition and non-use cancellation (section 45) proceedings. Toba has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by IP Stars since 2021 and has been listed in “Best Lawyers in Canada: Ones to Watch” since 2022.
