Navigating and breaking down complex IP laws, allowing clients to focus on what truly matters
Working in the patent space keeps Nicole at the forefront of new and developing technologies in the biotechnology, chemical and pharmaceutical fields. As a patent lawyer with a background in chemistry, Nicole’s passion for applying science to address real-world challenges drives her interest in patent law.
Nicole has experience working with diverse clients, including start-ups, SMEs, universities and multinational companies. Using a dedicated and flexible approach, Nicole endeavours to gain a deeper understanding of her clients’ goals and how they align with their IP. She simplifies the complexities of IP law, to present the most effective and efficient solution(s).
Nicole’s interest in IP law is rooted in her extensive scientific training. She earned an M.Sc. in synthetic organic chemistry from the University of British Columbia in 2015 before working as a Research Associate at a private research institute in Pasadena, California, and at a life sciences start-up in Culver City, California. In 2022, she earned her J.D. from the University of Windsor. During this time, she worked as a summer student at a leading IP boutique, later completing her articling term there.
Post articling, she served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honourable Justice Angela Furlanetto at the Federal Court of Canada in Ottawa. There, she assisted with various cases and trials relevant to IP and Immigration Law, developing significant experience in Administrative Law, particularly in assisting with judicial review proceedings before federal boards and tribunals.
These experiences cultivated Nicole’s passion for assisting individuals in securing and enforcing their IP.
