Nastasia Kujbid is a summer student in Smart & Biggar’s Toronto office. She is currently completing her J.D. at Queen’s University.  

Nastasia is a dedicated researcher with a passion for understanding the intersection of health, technology, and law. She was on the Dean's List for all four years of her undergraduate studies, graduating with High Distinction.

With a master's degree in physiology, her thesis investigated sleep patterns and mood in patients with depression. 

During her master’s studies at the University of Toronto, Nastasia was a mentor for the Adventures in Science Program, sharing her knowledge and passion for science with high school students. She was also an active member for the Physiology Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee (EDI). During law school, she is the President of the Queen’s Law Intellectual Property Law Club and volunteers at the Queen’s Legal Aid clinic. Nastasia also competed in the first year (1L) Criminal Law Moot earning a place as one of the Finalists. 

Prior to law school, Nastasia worked full-time as a Research Associate at the Toronto Western Hospital (UHN) where she led, designed and coordinated research projects on general surgery, emergency surgery and artificial intelligence in surgical training.

Nastasia is excited to join Smart & Biggar as a summer student because of the unparalleled opportunity to be exposed to multiple areas of Intellectual Property law.
