Katie Jeziorski is a Technical Consultant based in Kingston, Ontario. She works out of the firm’s Toronto and Ottawa offices. Her practice is primarily focused on preparing and prosecuting patent applications with an emphasis on electrical, oil and gas, mining, clean/green energy, biomedical and computer related technology.
Katie’s background is in electrical and biomedical engineering, however she has over 10 years of industry experience within oil and gas and mining, particularly focusing on the unconventional oil and gas and underground hard rock mining sectors. Prior to joining Smart & Biggar, Katie was a Product Manager for an SME offering geophysical equipment, software and services to the oil and gas, and mining and geotechnical industries. In this role she helped product development teams build and release new products and services and also managed the filing and prosecution of patent and trademark applications while assisting with matters relating to patentability, validity, infringement, and freedom to operate opinions.
During her tenure in industry she honed her skills in technical writing and is a co-author on numerous publications and conference proceedings ranging from IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering to the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). Katie is also active in various organizations focused on supporting female entrepreneurs and women in STEM, as well as neurodiversity inclusion and advocacy.
Drawing on this diverse experience across multiple industries, Katie brings a unique perspective to her work and is dedicated to understanding and addressing each client’s unique challenges and needs.
Away from the office, Katie enjoys spending time outside with her family. When she is not chasing after her kids, she enjoys reading, listening to podcasts and is an avid curler.
