Achieving strong patents through scientifically-informed support
With a career in IP spanning over two decades, Jennifer has deep expertise in patent drafting and prosecution, with a practice focused primarily in the areas of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and chemistry.
Jennifer’s enduring love of science fuels her passion for protecting innovations. With a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Physiology, Jennifer has an exceptional understanding of advancements in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries, and considers the best strategy for her clients by understanding their concerns and business objectives.
Drawing on her extensive scientific background, Jennifer has experience patenting a wide range of biochemical and chemical technologies, including biologics, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), specialty chemicals, polymers, vaccines, therapeutic and diagnostic methods, medical devices, oil and gas, and industrial chemical processes.
Before becoming a patent agent and pursuing a career in intellectual property law, Jennifer obtained a Ph.D. from Stanford University in the life sciences field and spent two years as a post-doctoral research fellow at Yale University. She draws on her extensive scientific background and her expertise in patent law to provide strategic patent counselling to her clients, including global pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
She is a member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) where she previously served on the Biotechnology Legislation Committee. In 2015, Jennifer was featured in the inaugural edition of Who's Who Legal: Patent Agents, which referred to her "impressive depth of expertise". She was also listed as an expert in 2016.
