A patent professional with an inventor’s perspective
For Chris, the opportunity to work with inventors and learn about their new technologies is what drew him to the field of patent procurement.
Having been an inventor himself, Chris has firsthand experience of the process to obtain a patent. He understands his clients’ perspectives and concerns, and shares their interest and excitement in applying their inventions to the wider world. Drawing on these insights and his technical expertise, gained from a Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry, Chris drafts and prosecutes patent applications for clients primarily in the chemical, oil and gas, pharmaceutical and agricultural industries.
Prior to joining Smart & Biggar, he spent several years managing a research and development center for an oil and gas chemical supplier. He has published multiple papers in the areas of synthetic organic methodology and physical organic chemistry and has presented at industry conferences.
Chris is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
