Alan Harris is an Associate at Smart & Biggar. His practice is directed towards the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, primarily in the Electrical & High Tech and Software, Information & Communications Technologies areas.
During his time at Western University, Alan was an undergraduate research assistant in the Advanced Robotics and Mechatronics Systems Lab, where he furthered the design and development of smart technologies for collaborative robots. He also worked on several design projects, such as creating an autonomous robot to retrieve objects, and simulating a robotic arm to perform tasks alongside humans. Alan helped build and test prototype motors to be used in human-safe robotic arm applications.
While in Law school, Alan was a part of the Western Intellectual Property Association, and served as a student mentor, helping first year students transition from undergraduate studies to law school.
Outside the office, Alan enjoys playing ultimate Frisbee, snowboarding, and sailing. He also enjoys hiking, and likes to spend time outdoors whenever he can.
