Ainslie’s practice focuses on drafting and prosecution of patent applications related to life sciences matters, including biologics, diagnostics, plants and plant technology, biotechnology, food and pharmaceuticals. She also advises on patent issues such as validity, infringement and freedom to operate and has expertise in IP licensing.

Ainslie offers strategic advice with respect to plant variety rights and related licensing and prepares and files Plant Breeders’ Rights applications. Ainslie also works on matters involving health-related regulations, including those related to Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations, Certificates of Supplementary Protection, the Patented Medicines Prices Review Board and Food and Drugs Act compliance.

While obtaining her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, Ainslie conducted research directed to identifying the mode-of-action of small molecules using genomic technologies and published her results in the journals Cell and Nature Biotechnology.
