Smart & Biggar welcomes articling student Audrey Berteau in Montréal

Smart & Biggar is pleased to welcome articling student Audrey Berteau to our team in Montréal.

Over the course of the next year, Audrey will work alongside Smart & Biggar partners and associates on Canada’s most complex and important IP matters. She will have the opportunity to work in a team-based environment to solve and address clients' most pressing IP issues and benefit from coaching and guidance from Canada’s leading IP lawyers.

Audrey comes to Smart & Biggar having completed her Law B.C.L./J.D. at McGill University. While at McGill, Audrey served as a senior editor of the McGill Journal of Law and Health from 2018-2019. As a testament to her strong academic standing, she was awarded multiple Bursaries, including the J W McConnell Scholarship and the George S Challies Memorial Award, and was included on the Dean’s Honour List in her third year of study.

In addition to her studies, Audrey also worked as a teaching assistant for the course Judicial Institutions and Civil Procedure, with Dr Amanda Gibeault, and as a Legal Methodology Tutorial Leader, in which she instructed first-year law students in reading techniques, legal research, legal writing and oral pleading.

In her year at Smart & Biggar, Audrey will gain a well-rounded experience in patents, trademarks, copyright and related litigation, and discover what it means to be at their best among the most elite practitioners in intellectual property law.

Smart & Biggar is widely recognized as Canada’s leading firm for intellectual property law, with offices in Ottawa, Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver and Calgary. We are leaders in intellectual property and technology law and have been serving clients for over a century.
