Smart & Biggar’s Graham Hood honoured as Lexpert Rising Star 2023: Leading Lawyer Under 40
Smart & Biggar is pleased to share that Principal and Trademarks Practice Group Leader, Graham Hood, has been named a Lexpert Rising Star, 2023. The Lexpert Rising Star Award honours leading Canadian lawyers under the age of 40, in recognition of the outstanding contributions they have made to the legal profession in their careers.
As a highly experienced trademark lawyer, Graham’s counsel is sought after by brand owners focused on building and protecting their brands and reputations across Canada. He is trusted by clients for his actionable and business-minded advice. With over a decade of experience advising brand owners, he provides pragmatic advice to help clients achieve their goals and address risks in a cost-effective and straightforward manner.
Graham’s practice spans all aspects of trademark counselling, prosecution and litigation. He counsels brand owners through trademark selection, clearance and prosecution, as well as opposition proceedings and section 45 non-use, cancellation proceedings before the Trademarks Opposition Board. Graham's litigation practice covers both the Federal and the provincial courts and extends to actions and summary applications for passing off, trademark and trade dress infringement, depreciation of goodwill and the importation, distribution, marketing and sale of counterfeit goods. He has established himself as a bright litigator with a proven track record of success, before both the Federal and the provincial courts.
Graham accepted his award at the Lexpert Rising Stars Awards gala, which took place at the Liberty Grand in Toronto on Thursday, November 23, 2023. Toronto-based Principal Mark Evans also attended the gala.
