- Pelle Berends: Pelle is an Associate at Smart & Biggar. Pelle advises clients at every stage of the trademark lifecycle, from selection and clearance to prosecution and registration, as well as in litigation. He is involved in contentious proceedings before the Trademarks Opposition Board, defending clients’ trademark rights in trademark opposition proceedings and non-use cancellation proceedings.
- Tierney GB Deluzio: Tierney is a Senior Associate at Smart & Biggar. Tierney is involved in all aspects of trademarks, including counselling, prosecution, enforcement, and litigation. Tierney advises clients on building and protecting their brands and reputations across a range of industries, including in the cosmetics, fashion and apparel, consumer goods, food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries.
- Meika Ellis: Meika is an Associate at Smart & Biggar. Meika specializes in trademark and copyright prosecution and litigation. She also collaborates with Indigenous peoples, organizations, businesses, government departments, and non-profit entities discussing protections for Indigenous Knowledge and Cultural Expressions.
- Kwan Loh: Kwan is a Principal at Smart & Biggar. Kwan handles a wide range of matters across the trademark life cycle, including prosecution, contentious matters, and advising on trademark litigation before Canadian courts. Drawing on nearly 20 years of experience, he is able to proactively identify and counsel clients on market opportunities and risks when selecting, clearing and protecting their marks, and provide strategic guidance when enforcement is needed.
