Building on the “live” and “dynamic” blocking orders obtained by Smart & Biggar for well-known Canadian broadcasters in relation to unauthorized online streams of National Hockey League (NHL) games as well as the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Smart & Biggar successfully represented Rogers Media Inc and Groupe TVA Inc in securing a similar blocking order enjoining Canada’s major Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block access to unauthorized streams of certain live games of the Toronto Blue Jays, Canada’s only Major League Baseball (MLB) team, and certain live MLB events and games (including the World Series).
